Professional classical and world/folk/metal music violinist/violist, playing for 23 years and teaching for 15 years. I use the Suzuki method to teach technique, but love exploring the students own music interests, and bringing those songs into our lessons.
Music Background & Credentials
Hi, my name is Zoe. I am a violinist/violist with over 17 years of experience as a professional musician. Tell me what you want from your lessons and we'll make it happen!
Professional Experience
I’ve played in numerous orchestras, chamber music festivals and ensembles throughout Canada including Mooredale Orchestra and Music at Port Milford Chamber Music Festival. On top of that I've worked with numerous ensembles and musicians such as The Linden Quartet, The Harlem Quartet, The Tokai Quartet, Ensemble Made in Canada as well as many others. I gig around Toronto playing not only classical music but also fiddle music from around the world. I teach Klezmer music atthe JCCC, and have performed with such groups as LEMOn Bucket Orkestra, Moskitto Bar, the Turbans, the Double Cuts, and Volur among many others. I am currently accepting new violin, viola, and music theory students.
Teaching & Other Details
I have taught complete beginners as well as those with some experience looking to improve their skills, folks who played as youth and would like to pick it up again, and intermediate students ranging from age 6 to 70. My one on one private lessons are catered to your needs. Whether you would like to learn a few songs of your choosing, study the Suzuki Method, work on a Sonata or your orchestra music, I can help you develop your abilities as a musician and achieve your full potential. If you are interested in world music, I would love to teach you tunes and the technique that goes with it. Klezmer is my specialty, but we can also explore Celtic and Trubacci together among other things.
